Visiting Liverpool’s Peaky Blinders Bar

If you are not already Peaky Blinders obsessed like we are I highly recommend you get on Netflix now to check it out , then pop back and read this post and you will be just as pumped as we were for a Peaky Blinders experience. The bar is located in the former buildings of the Cain’s Brewery, a revamped section of Liverpool now called Brewery Village. The area is thoroughly British and given that much of the series is filmed in Liverpool, the Peaky Blinders Bar seems right at home there. We had known about this place since the planning of it and had it penciled in for a night out back home in Liverpool.

The lovely old brick buildings are the perfect setting for this themed bar. The inside has a lot of great photos from the series, but it left me wanting more as a Peaky Blinders fan. Reportedly, they spent and absolute fortune on the admittedly gorgeous chandeliers but it feels like the rest of the decor is somewhat lacking. Certainly, a bit of rustic feel is appropriate for the theme but I do think a few more little details could make the difference. I do appreciate the classically Peaky Blinders suspenders (braces) worn by the bar staff.

Offering live music from great local artists four nights a week makes the Peaky Blinders bar a fun local spot. In fact, we ran into Deana Walmsley (the voice UK finalist in 2019) and was chatting with her for a bit, though unfortunately had just missed her set. We visited on a quiet Sunday afternoon and have heard they get busy on Friday and Saturday nights. The vibe really picked up at night and was the scene for an excellent family night out. Though there is significant room for growth on the bar’s part, if your a fan of the show and in Liverpool you really can’t miss the opportunity to have a visit, if just for some fanboy/fangirl photos with your favorite characters.

Baltic Market

Seems like the cafeteria style food halls are popping up everywhere these days and we are a fan. These are not your typical shopping mall food stalls, they are unique and always changing to keep your interest and give you a different experience every time you go. It’s the perfect place for a snacker like me who would rather try a nibble of tons of different bites then have one big entree. With their long rows of tables, it worked great for space of a big group and all the different stall ensures everyone will find something they are interested in eating. They also have a stage for live music.

Yellow Submarine Bar

You can’t visit Liverpool without having some Beatlemania exposure, even Ryan still finds time to do at least one Beatle experience when we go home. The yellow submarine bar was a neat experience, although the atmosphere was dull at the time we went. The inside of the bar is themed for the time period and has some cool memorabilia, giving it a unique feel for a bar. If you know anything about submarines, you probably know that they are famous for being dark, small on the inside and claustrophobic; the same could be said for the inside of this bar. We didn’t stay for a drink here but we are glad to have stopped in.

Black Pearl Bar

Sticking to the pop culture theme, and being a massive fan of Pirates of the Caribbean, we had to swing by the Black Pearl Bar. The inside of this place was lovely and the music kept us lively. We especially liked the tables in the black pearl like the one above that was fancy enough and big enough for our firm. The lads stuck to the beer while the girls enjoyed their wine, but I do remember liking the drinks menu. They serve some yummy Caribbean food; love that they’re keeping with the theme. We tried the jerk chicken and chips (fries) and enjoyed both. Definitely some good night out grub.

Overall we really loved this area and plan on going for drinks when we go back. A lot of money was invested in the area for development and tourism which is always a good thing for any city, and what a job they did to this area. The area is lively and thriving and like any Liverpool night out, I don’t think you’ll be dissapointed.
