The Most Beautiful Place in England

On our most recent trip my parents took us to what is known as the Lake District. There is something simple and captured in time there. You drive around a corner and some meandering sheep are blocking your way, round the next corner and you are seeing a beautiful mountainside, a quaint little village, then a sparkling lake. We believe that it is the most beautiful place in England and after you read on and see the amazing pictures we bet you will too!

Quaint Accommodations

My brother booked us a cottage through airbnb and we couldn’t have found a better place. It was located in a valley between two mountains. We could see and hear a waterfall from our patio seating in the backyard. The occasional cow and sheep would wander behind it from local farms. Add in the log fire and it was the perfect piece of the lake district to relax in after a days walk.  Not to mention it was just steps from two different pubs. It was also the perfect setting on our last night to cook a classic British roast, which came about by accident as we passed a local farm advertising their fresh meats and stopped and picked up some lamb and fresh eggs. Experiencing literal farm to table.We even captured this photo of a rainbow  coming over the mountain peak after the obligatory British rain. There are many options for cottage rentals and bed and breakfasts in the area for really great accommodations.

Fantastic Hikes

The Lake District is definitely a hikers paradise. All of the little villages have numerous outdoor shops to buy the gear which is good because a good pair of walking shoes is definitely required. We are by no means avid hikers but we were still able to enjoy some beautiful walks on Great Langdale’s peaks and around Lake Windermere’s waters. It’s was also a great place to bring your dog. It seemed like everyone had their dogs with them and  most shops and pubs were dog friendly establishments. We were a bit heart broken that we couldn’t bring our own dog overseas with us because he would have loved it. My brother’s Patterdale Terrier Puppies were able to come along and had some puppy approved adventures.

Beautiful Landscape

My brother and I had our hearts set on fishing so they rose before the sun, got the dogs harnessed up and headed out on a chilly Lake District morning, coffee in hand. We drove through the mountain region and watched the clouds rise off the land. We came around the smallest of country roads and up over a small sheep filled hill, and there it was our secret lake. A natural mirror to the sky and landscape, reflection as clear as the actual peak, frozen in time. Shut off from the rest of the world , we could do nothing but stare in the beauty that nature provided. We joked that what had been stumbled upon was a private estate of the royals as it felt as if we had found a secret oasis. The natural beauty that the Lake District has to offer is practically endless.
